THE FIRST STRIDE MOBILITY SURVEY HAS PROVIDED VALUABLE INSIGHTS INTO DAIRY FOOT HEALTH AND MOBILITY. THE RESULTS HAVE BEEN USED TO FOCUS ATTENTION ON CREATING RESOURCES AND AWARENESS, HELPING IMPROVE FOOT HEALTH TO BRING FINANCIAL, WELFARE, SOCIAL AND WIDER INDUSTRY BENEFITS.

Key findings of the survey include:  

  • Still a big opportunity to improve levels of mobility and foot health

  • Poor mobility remains a drain on profitability

  • Farmers are aware of the activities that can contribute to better foot health and mobility

  • Farmers are investing in prevention and treatment of foot problems and are embracing new technology

  • The industry must be more proactive in communicating the importance of better foot health

  • Barriers to engagement must be removed

  • There needs to be clearer and more effective allocation of responsibilities

  • Holistic prevention programmes should be developed

  • Adoption of new technologies should be encouraged to improve diagnosis, treatment and prevention
